Using AI at Work is a practical short course from Australian Salesmasters Training Co (ASTC), delivered on ASTC Online. It's for office, admin, sales and small-business staff who want to use AI tools safely and well. You don't need any technical background.
You'll learn what generative AI is and isn't, where it helps at work and where it doesn't belong, how to write good prompts, and how to check what AI gives you.
By the end you will be able to:
- explain in plain language what generative AI is, how it produces text and images, and why it can be confidently wrong
- identify everyday work tasks where AI helps, tasks that need extra care, and tasks where AI should not be used
- apply a simple prompt structure (role, task, context, format and examples) and improve results by refining the conversation
- apply a checking routine for accuracy, sources, bias, tone and Australian context, and explain why people stay accountable for AI-assisted work
- explain how the Privacy Act 1988 and OAIC guidance apply to using AI, and apply safe habits for personal and confidential information
- explain the general Australian copyright position on AI content, and recognise and respond to AI-enabled scams and deepfakes
- apply Australia's AI Ethics Principles and current Australian Government guidance to everyday work, using a personal AI use checklist
What's included: 7 narrated video lessons with captions, interactive drag-and-drop activities and practice checks, a participant book (PDF) to keep, an online final quiz (marked automatically, 3 attempts, 80% to pass) and a Certificate of Completion.
Time: about 2 hours, including the activities and the final quiz (allow longer if English is your second language or you replay lessons). Study online at your own pace through ASTC Online.
